This page is an introduction for visitors to the IDobjectWiki project.
| IDobjectWiki is a multilingual, Web-based, free-content, identified object encyclopedia project. The name "IDobjectWiki" is a portmanteau of the words ID (identify), object, and Wiki (a type of collaborative Web site). IDobjectWiki's pages provide links to guide the user to related pages with information on identified objects, identified phenomenon, and tools that can assist in the identification of an unknown object and/or phenomenon. Objects and/or phenomenon that are unidentified should be reported to MUFON, as such, using the link in the MUFON table on the left side of the screen. We expect all contributors to this site to conduct themselves in a professional manner. All pages should be written in a neutral point of view. |
| IDobjectWiki is written collaboratively by volunteers from all around our World and possibly another part of our known Universe, a parallel universe, etc. Any person or entity with internet access can make changes to unprotected IDobjectWiki pages. IDobjectWiki renders pages from other wiki’s as noted at the top of the page under the page name. As a result, these pages are protected since any edits would need to be done on the appropriate wiki. We may protect pages containing completed investigations and photos of the identified object. This would be done to reduce the possibility of vandalism. Pages can be unprotected, via an eMail request, should the need to modify the page arise by the author, administrator, or other user. |
| Edits to existing pages and creation of new pages are restricted to users that have accounts. This restriction helps reduce vandalism and unprofessional behavior. Should the ability to create an account not appear on this site, this means that due to excessive vandalism and/or unprofessional behavior, usually by a few individuals, we have had to restrict the automatic creation of new accounts. You may still have an account created by sending an eMail to us requesting that an account be created. We will then communicate with you to make this happen. Individual user accounts and/or IP addresses may be blocked due to excessive vandalism and/or unprofessional behavior. The ability or inability to edit any pages on this site does not imply any types of rights exist or have been violated. |
| Some video clips and images may be copyrighted. Check the actual image page or video page (this is not the page that it is displayed on) to determine if it contains any copyright statements. Check any rendered wiki pages on their site to determine if any information, image, or video presented are copyrighted. If you are unsure, assume that it is copyrighted. |
